News and Events

Dear Hope Lutheran Congregation and Powell Community:

We love you.  God loves you. And we want to do our best to be proactive in our care for you and for the public. We have never been in leadership during a pandemic before, so we ask for your grace and mercy. We ask for your patience and kindness. We know that the Holy Spirit is present and active at all times and especially during times of uncertainty and unrest. In full faith in God and in one another we will walk in this situation with grade and wisdom.

We have accepted an invitation to join Trinity Lutheran Church, Cody, to offer worship on Sunday mornings at the American Dream Drive In Theater, Powell, at 10:30 a.m. Our intentions are to continue these services until this pandemic has ended.

Pastor Donna is also posting videos on Facebook that can be viewed at your convenience. There are also inspirational quotes that will hopefully brighten your day. There are many devotionals that can be found on the Internet if you are interested in praying daily.

Please copy and paste this address into your search engine when you are logged in to the Internet to register and receive an ELCA God Pause devotional: https://www.luthersem.edu/godpause/ .

This is a great resource for daily devotions. We also have devotional books at Hope that are published through Augsburg Fortress. If you are interested in having one of these, please call the church office and one will be mailed to you: 307-754-4040.

Pastor Donna is also available if you would like someone to talk to or need help with something. She is not doing home visits at this time due to COVID-19.  Her goal is to keep everyone safe during this pandemic, but would love to hear from you.

Again, we encourage you to join us on Sunday morning for a 30-minute worship service at the drive-in theater. Pastor Kay and I will be sharing God's Word and tell the story of our God who loves us unconditionally and will be with us throughout this unprecedented event happening in the world.

In Christ,

Hope Church Council & Pastor Donna Putney

Let us pray:  Heavenly Father, we know your presence and love is with us always. Be with  us as we walk with our neighbors and pray for each other. We pray for extra protection for those who are in that special class of high risk and for everyone else as we maneuver through this ever-changing situation. We thank you for the gift of community, family and friends. Be with those who have dedicated their lives to putting themselves in vulnerable situations to do your work and bring healing to the sick. You are the light in our lives. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

God is our refuge and our strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

-- Psalm 46
